Week 10: The three types of communication

1)written: e-mail, notes or something written on a bord to be made public.
2)verbal: screaming, talking or wispering
3)non-verbal: pointing, smiling or staring

In my examples I showed things that could make someone think that a person is talking about them. For example, e-mails and notes can be accadentaly passed on to other people with out thinking, chain mail is sent around the world every day at just about every minute and it is extremely easy to send an e-mail that was private to someone that wasnt suppost to see it. This is the same with notes, they can be dropped or handed off in the hallway. Public display is also an easy way to catch unwanted attention like getting your name written on the bord by a teacher. The teacher is trying to make a point by saying that you did something bad but you are looking at it like she is trying to embarrise you. Words can get twisted by accadent and can make you end up thinking something completely different, so if you have something to say then just speak up and dont write things down unless you do it in your own private journal. Verbal outbursts can also be a very big problem, like when you hear someone has said something about you, most people will just start screaming and not even try to figure out what is true and whats not and when you are the one getting screamed at, you most likly wont want to have to explain yourself so you just start yelling back. Talking and wispering are also sometimes things you dont want to do. In my opinion, there is a right and wrong time for everything. Like talking during class, at the time it may seem important, but the teacher doesnt care and she wont hesitate to kick you out or give you detention for being "disrespectful". Whispering isnt much good either, in fact, whispering can propobly get you in the most trouble. When you whisper that is probobly the most obvious way of telling someone you are talking about them and most times, people will confrunt you about it. Lastly, body language, which is probobly the easiest thing to read. Most people thing when they see you pointing or stairing or laughing that you are talking about them becauser that is just human nature. So the next time you try to communicate, just think about your guestures and tone of voice because something that small can mess everything up.

Attitudes Week 9

My reactions can be either positive or negative. I am the type of person who can get frustrated very easily. In general I am a very happy, upbeat person. Because of the stress in my life I feel that issues that look small to other people are actually big problems to me. Basicly, I am extremely hot headed, this means that i will explode on impulse but if you just leave me alone and give me a second I will realize what the other person's side is and try to work it out or just get over it and leave it alone.
When I am at my Service Learning Job my attitude changes drematicly. I refuse to get upset with myself, my instructor and my work. I keep a smile on my face even if its something I dont want to do at the moment. This is because i know how the real world works and I know that if i get upset at a real job I could get fired on the spot. In a way I am just teaching myself self control for when I get a real job.
The attitudes around you strongly influence the kind of attitudes that you develop. I got lucky with the type of family I have and their attitudes that have contributed to mine. My mother is very social and upbeat but can hold her own in a fight. My dad is probobly the quietest person that you will ever me but also one of the nicest. Learning from them, I am loud and outgoing but in situations like work or when dealing with athority, my dad has taught me to be quiet and just listen to what they have to say.

Fire Safty issue at Cedar Shoals

It would be extremely easy to have a fire at Cedar Shoals High School with the cafateria that is working from the morning to serve breakfast to lunch time. With the kitchen running that much it is very easy for something to catch fire. There are also a lot of science chemestry labs upstairs which could cause explosions. I knew that safty plans were needed but i didnt know about all the components needed for the schools floorplan. These include:

1)Exits
2)Primary evacuation routes.
3)Secondary evacuation routes.
4)Accessible egress routes.
5)Areas of refuge.
6)Manual fire alarm boxes.
7)Portable fire extinguishers.
8)Occupant-use hose stations.
9)Fire alarm annunciator and controls.
10)Sprinkler control valves

Hazards at Cedar Shoals High

Looking back at my progress so far at Cedar Shoals, I have realized that there are many hazards working at a high school, these include:
1) Tripping on the steps (cedar is a two story building)
2) Fire (there is a cafeteria)
3) When working with students there is always a risk of being hurt (there are a lot of fights)
4) Bomb threats
5) Child melesters
6) Terrorist attacks
